2 · Design Tips for Teardrop Canva, Feather Canva & Flag Templates

  1. Start with high-quality images. Upload sharp JPG / PNG only if Canva’s free stock library (type “marketing banners”, “event flags”, etc.) doesn’t meet your needs.
  2. Remove backgrounds free. Canva’s Pro remover is paid, but Adobe’s online background remover works at no cost.
  3. Use a vector logo whenever possible. PDF logos import cleanly; convert AI / EPS / SVG with free services like CloudConvert, then upload via Create → Import File.
  4. Stay within CMYK-friendly colours. Very bright RGB blues / greens rarely reproduce in print. Aim for mid-tones; our press team will match close CMYK swatches.
  5. Mirror sides on double-sided banners. Duplicate the page, group all items, then use Flip horizontally. Keep text central so it remains readable on both faces.
  6. Prioritise legibility. Advertising flags are read at distance. Use large sans-serif fonts (Mont Heavy, Oswald) and limit text to five or six key words.
  7. Export correctly. Go to Share → Download → PDF Print, check “Crop marks & bleed”, resolution 300 dpi. Avoid PNGs—they downsize quality.

5 · Frequently Asked Questions

What size should I set in Canva for a teardrop banner?

We’ve created free pre-scaled templates for all banner sizes. Simply use the template (e.g. 1800x800mm for small teardrop) and design as is. We’ll scale it back up before printing, so you don’t need to worry about dimensions.

Does Canva support CMYK colours for print?

Canva uses RGB colour by default, which may appear slightly different in print. To avoid issues, please avoid overly bright greens and blues. Our team will automatically convert your file to CMYK and match the closest printable colour.

How do I keep text readable on a feather or teardrop flag?

Always use bold, high-contrast fonts like Oswald or Montserrat. Keep text short—5–6 words max—and large enough to be seen from a distance. Place your message vertically or curve it along the flag shape for the best visibility.

Can I make different designs on both sides of the banner?

Yes, you can! If you want different content on the back, duplicate the page in Canva, group all elements, and flip them horizontally. Let us know during checkout which side is front-facing, and we’ll print accordingly.

What is the turnaround time for printed banners?

Standard turnaround is 5 working days from artwork approval. For urgent orders, we offer fast-track options with 2–3 day delivery across Australia.
